Recovery Worx - Vocational Training for Individuals in Recovery
Recovery Worx is a project developed and managed by Cornerstone for Hope, a well-known Pennsylvania 501c3 charitable organization. Recovery Worx works with people in recovery from Substance Use Disorder, providing them with the training and skills to rejoin society in a productive way.
Students learn the fine art of woodworking, from selecting materials to design and fabrication. These items are then sold through various outlets and net proceeds are reinvested in the program.
“Addiction robs people of their self-esteem, their identity and in many cases future opportunities. Our mission through both Recovery Worx and the soon to be open Recovery Station is to change all of that, one person at a time."
According to SAMHSA, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, employment in early recovery has proven to lower recidivism, relapse and other consequences of prolonged substance abuse significantly.
