Certified Recovery Specialist FREE Training!


Cornerstone for Hope (“CFH”) is a 501(c)3 focused on providing individual and community support for young people battling the disease of addiction. Our mission, “building a foundation for recovery”, enables us to offer this exciting educational opportunity to individuals having an interest in beginning or furthering their career in the field of recovery.


Training Schedule: Training will begin on September 11th and end on November 13th for 10 consecutive Saturdays.

Those interested must be committed to attending 10 in-person training sessions and the 12 hours of online homework necessary to obtain the certification

what are the requirements?

Requirements for entry into the program are as follows:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Successful completion of the Certified Recovery Specialist – 78 Hour Training Curriculum
  • 18 months of sustained personal lived recovery
  • 1000 word statement describing personal lived experience with addiction and recovery and history of sustained recovery  
  • Application to the Pennsylvania Certification Board, payment of fee, and successful completion of the CRS exam
  • Signed ethical code of conduct

What is a Certified Recovery Specialist

Certified Family Recovery Specialist:  The Recovery Specialist is an individual with personal, lived experience of their own recovery.

By offering insight into the recovery process, Recovery Specialists:

  • Share a unique perspective with those with similar life experiences.
  • Accept and agree that their experience as a person in recovery from a substance use disorder will be known by their colleagues, individuals served, and others with whom they may share that they have achieved this credential.
  • Become a role model, mentor, advocate, and motivator. Recovery Specialists advocate for the individual, the recovery system, recovery-oriented services and assist to identify and reduce stigma.
  • Advocate to eliminate barriers, increase natural supports and build community.

Services provided by the Recovery Specialist substantially improve an individual’s and family’s ability to sustain recovery and wellness. This training is designed to prepare Recovery Specialists for work in the behavioral health field.
